Description

Yup, the common name nails it, this is a tall white aster! I remember looking forward to this imposing plant as a child, knowing that school was going to be starting again soon, but those really tall white flowers would be coming out anytime now. And, they never fail to impress, even as an adult I am always drawn to their stately presence. They can grow over 4 feet tall depending on where they are growing. Tallest height is strongly correlated with wet meadows, shorter heights with drier conditions. They don’t seem to like the extremes at either end of the wetness spectrum; you won’t usually find them in true-blue wetlands (except on the edge) and they won’t grow in very dry areas, such as where you would see little blue stem grass. Because of their height, they are probably best suited to a large open meadow or garden type area where they can grow unimpeded. Grows well in part shade to full sun when the moisture conditions are right. Attracts lots of pollinators from bees, to beetles, to butterflies.

Grown right here at Native Haunts from locally collected seed. 1 gallon pot size
