Description

Don’t you just hate family comparisons? But we are going to do it here; tall thimbleweed is much taller than its little cousin, Canada anemone, reaching 2 to 3 feet in height on average.  It can grow in full shade to part sun and in the wild it can be found growing in dry open woods. It is said to be both drought and cold tolerant; a great choice for the fluky climate conditions we are now saddled with. Flowers are a curious shade of white, often tinged with a bit of green. Like most other members of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) the flowers sport a large number of yellow stamens, which give a sophisticated appearance and a welcome mat to hungry pollinators. Flowers May through July. Even the seeds are interesting; once mature, densely wooly styles catch a breeze, and float on to a new location to start life again.

Robust, organically grown plants in 3 gallon pots.
